New Year, New You, How To Do It

Happy New Year everyone.  I am so excited about the new year and I am sure you are too.   Many people have good intentions and start off the new year with determination and excitement in making their lives healthier.  But many people have trouble staying on track.  I believe there are many reasons why people go off track even with the best of intentions.  Usually it is because of a lack of understanding in the necessary great detail it requires to implement permanent healthy changes in your life.  Society is used to instant gratification, therefore, they want to quickly look and feel better when they go on a diet and exercise program.  The problem with that is that it is a temporary solution for a permanent issue.  Change takes time.  It takes time to make permanent healthy new habits.  We need to feel good in all we do, therefore, small doable changes overtime are the secret to success.

When you know better, you are able to do better.  Many people  ‘know’ certain foods, drinks and habits are unhealthy, but many do not ‘know’ just how specifically unhealthy in detail they are.  Humans are unique in many ways, one in that our favorite past time is ‘poisoning’ ourselves.  We love to ‘poison’ ourselves in many different ways, such as with alcohol, sugar, or other things.  Anything in excess is poisonous. Even too much water can kill you.  Balance is key.  Knowing how much and what we need to fuel our bodies is vital to optimal health.  Learn as much as you can about your food, your body and how they can work together or against each other.  When you feed your body the nutrients, minerals, protein and fiber it requires you will feel great, your exercise will pay off and you will see the results in the mirror, and your cravings for unhealthy foods will decrease overtime and even be eliminated eventually and replaced with new better health choices.  We always have the choice, choose to choose the best for you.

What are you eating and what is eating you? Stress packs on the pounds, even without changing your diet or exercise. Stress is very dangerous and can eventually lead to serious illness and even death.  It is very important to keep stress to a minimum or eliminate it entirely if you can in your life.  The power of the mind is amazing.  You can do anything you set your mind to.  Set your mind and keep it set to good vibes and always think positive.  If you do not like something, change your perspective.  Keeping good perspective is key in keeping good mental health.  We need to focus on all parts of our body and mind to be our best healthy selves.

Knowledge is power.  Teach yourself.  Read.  Study.  Analyze.  Review.  Try.  Try again.  This is your life.  Make it great.  Don’t be mediocre. Be phenomenal. You get this one chance at this life, do everything in your power to get the most out of it that you can. Be good to yourself.  Act like you love yourself.  When you take the very best care of yourself, you can be your very best for everyone else too.  Be your personal best to feel fit forever.  Treat your body like the luxury vehicle that it is.  Fuel your body with nutrients, minerals, protein, and fiber, every day, to show you love your body.  Everything we do matters.  Everything in moderation to a certain degree is good but we cannot take this literally.  Meaning do not have treats every day and veggies once in a while, it should be the other way around.  Do not exercise to the point that you feel like you ‘earned’ a certain cheat food, you should be exercising to feel good and better your health.  The good feeling that accompanies exercise should make you feel like eating healthier, usually.  If not, you are likely doing too much, too soon, or the wrong types of exercise.  Re-evaluate your plan and your needs.

The magic changes inside your body are not actually happening while you are exercising, it happens afterwards. It is during rest and sleep that our bodies are changing.  Rest is vital to building muscle, healing muscle, and getting ready for your next workout.  Never miss a rest day.  Listen to your body.  If you need more rest, take it.  Make sure you get plenty of rest to feel your best, even if your plan says otherwise, always listen to your body for your best results.

You are what you eat, literally.  What you fuel your body with is a huge part of how you look and feel.  The number one biggest reason why people are not seeing and feeling the results from all their hard efforts of exercise is that they are not eating the right food.  Fuel your body.  Think of everything you put into your body and what exactly it is doing for you or to you.  We are what we eat.  We must always think of food as fuel.  Eat healthy whole foods, and avoid processed foods.  Sugar is the biggest problem in society today, although most people do not view it that way, but they should.  Many things are sugar and yet are not viewed that way, such as alcohol is sugar.  Sugar causes so much harm to our bodies, both immediately  and in the long run.  It is the long run that we need to focus on.  Sugar causes inflammation.  Inflammation is the start of every illness in society today, such as cancer and heart disease.  And even things such as wrinkles are increased by sugar.  You would think that reason alone would make women all over the world stop eating sugar, but it does not.  I believe the reason why is because even if they know sugar causes wrinkles, they do not know in great scientific detail proof and the extent, therefore, making it easier to ignore and easier to believe that a magic cream will get rid of your wrinkles.  I wonder  why anyone would want to get wrinkles to begin if they had the power not to.  It is because of society and how society views things.  We all must be our own best person, make decisions for ourselves, and always seek more information in lifetime learning to be our best.   You really can do better the more you know.  The better you are to your body, the more you will feel fit forever.




Best Blueberry Gluten free Muffins!

I do not like many gluten free products but these homemade muffins are sure to please everyone, even those who eat gluten, and they are packed with nutrients, fiber, and protein to fill you up and keep you going.

I use 2 cups Bob’s Red Mill all purpose gluten free flour that has 3 grams protein and 3 grams fiber per 1/4 cup serving, a little less than 2/3 raw sugar, 2 eggs, splash of pure vanilla extract,  stick of butter, 2 tsp baking powder,  1 tsp salt, 2 cups fresh blueberries, unsweetened almond milk to a creamy, but still a little thick consistency, bake in butter greased 12 cupcakes pan 350° till firm and slightly golden brown.

Best Breakfast ever!

I love easy, healthy,  tasty meals. Why not make meals ahead of time so you can eat healthy no matter what? I like making breakfast muffin omelets ahead of time.  They are so easy, absolutely decadent,  and packed with nutrients guaranteed to make you feel your best. I like to use a large muffin pan that makes 6 muffins instead of the regular size 12 muffin pan.  Its the perfect size for each muffin to be a 2 egg spinach cheese omelet muffin. It tastes great either hot or cold.  I use 12 eggs, 1 package of swiss cheese, 2 packages of spinach, bake 350 for about 40 minutes or until done. Plan ahead to eat healthy to feel fit forever.  #feelfitforever 

Best Chicken Chili Ever!

I just made the best chicken chili ever! I love being creative and trying new things.  Today I made chicken chili the way I have made it before and it was really good but I felt like something was missing even though I have it enjoyed it that way many times before. Then the idea came to me,  I decided to boil and mash some sweet potatoes to add to my chicken chili.  It really kicked it up several notches, to omgoodness every bite is so amazingly awesome.  You have to try this! 

Chicken breast, white beans, onion, garlic, cumin, chili powder, unsweetened almond milk, and mashed sweet potatoes equals heaven.
